Windows 7

It’s here! Hurrah!

I’m pretty excited. Sure, our office is full of giant iMacs, but in my heart and home I’m still a devout PC fan. The launch on October 27 signals the start of a raft of industry changes that will reshape the face of consumer computing.

The general consensus is that Windows 7 will finally give XP users the impetus to upgrade; an opportunity apparently missed by Vista. Given the favourable previews and reviews Windows 7 has received thus far, it’s pretty safe to assume this will be a widespread scenario.

Introduction to Drupal

When approaching any sort of project – a website, a home renovation or a camping trip – it’s essential to have the right tool for the job. As web designers, we have a particularly large range of software packages available to us to assist in creating our websites.

The key software choice to make when designing a site is which CMS or core package we will use to form the base of the site. A CMS (Content Management System) is software that sits on your web server and manages all the content and communications that happen on your website.

Firefox Extensions, Vol. 1

If you’ve read the ‘fast facts’ in my profile, you’ll know that I really dig Firefox extensions. Over years I’ve trialled a silly number of them in the quest to find the perfect extension set. This list probably won’t shatter your world if you’re already an experienced web professional, but if you’re just starting out you might find these helpful.
