What your email address says about you

Still hanging on to your old hotmail address for business? yourbusiness99@hotmail.com doesn't make the grade and can reflect poorly on the professionalism of you business.

With 94% of Australian SMEs using email to communicate with their customers on a regular basis (as per the Australian Communication and Media Authority's latest communications report 2008 - 09) it's important to have a professional email that reflects your business.

In plain English please

There are a lot of different terms we use as a digital agency. Although we do our best to effectively communicate these with you we understand that sometimes these can get lost in translation.

But don't despair!

If you have something you would like defined or to get a bit more of an understanding about, let us know in the comments below! We're more then happy to debug the term for you.

Coming to terms with being HIT!

I'm about to give you some good advice which I have had to explain it to hundreds of businesses. It's not their fault, it's just that people have been using this specific word out of context for many years.

The word is HIT. *shudder*

Next time someone tells you that they got thousands of hits to their site, punch them!

Ok, so maybe violence is not the answer, but it really boils my blood when I hear people and businesses promoting and talking about how many hits they received on their website.

Taking your website for a spin

Congratulations, you just bought a new car!

Oh, you must feel so proud. It has those electric windows you always wanted, power steering (lovely) and the all important air conditioning. Very cool. You even got a fair price on it, cheaper then you expected and it included a few more gadgets and features.

That feeling of driving your new car out the lot and taking it for a spin is something you always remember.

Driving away, you are completely aware that the buck doesn't stop there.

Freedom of Expression in Jeopardy?

Freedom of expression can be summarised as the freedom of seeking, receiving, and imparting ideas and information through any medium. The medium that this blog is concerned with is the internet, a place that is built on the sharing of information and ideas.

Several of those industries include:

Government Intervention: is it going too far?

One of the most agreeable articles I have found in relation to discussion regarding the No Clean Feed was published by Canon Dr Ray Clearly on 18 January.

This article comments in depth on the debate regarding government versus parent responsibility with respect to child protection.

Pumped full of energy and ready to go

Third week in and we're all still pumped and full of energy to embrace the year ahead. 2010 for Feedia is the year of authority and about refinement and embracing new opportunities.

Similar to most businesses at the end of every year, we took time out to reflect on what rocked, what didn't and what we all learnt during the year. This helped us to set goals and milestones for this year to improve and grow both individually and as an agency.

One of the most interesting parts of the nocleanfeed debate is....

...the online communities that have been created.

Yes I could write about how the technical limitations of the governments legislation, or the effects it will have on internet speeds and so forth. However I feel this as an awesome opportunity to showcase the incredible standing advocates of the nocleanfeed protest are implementing via social media.
