Is your business daunted by social media? Don't be!
I speak to a lot of business about introducing social media into their online marketing. Often when first introducing this to some businesses, I look across the table to a daunted client. Social media doesn't need to make you feel this way, in fact the polar opposite.
Social media
There are all different types of Social Media around and it can become overwhelming to know which ones to use and how to use them.
Eg. 10:30am every morning, XYZ business will update their Twitter status;
Every Wednesday afternoon ABC's Facebook page will need to be updated with new content;
and the first week of every month 123's email newsletter is created and sent on time.
This is also on top of running other aspects of their business.
Sound familiar?
How to choose the right medium for your business?
Time
Before heading down the path of social media, look into how much time you are willing to put into your business's social media presence. Once this has been identified it can clearly outline which will be the easiest to manage for your business. Again, if you don't have the time, there are always additional services that you can outsource to manage a social media presence for you.
Objectives
Ask yourself, what are you wanting to achieve through social media? These objectives help to identify which one will be the best, have the most reach and impact for your business.
Once both of these have been defined and a social media platform identified it's time to jump in.
What I've learnt when helping businesses with their online marketing
What I've learnt whilst working with businesses on implementing social media strategies and campaigns is that a schedule and partner in crime always helps.
Schedule everything
Don't think you have time for social media? Schedule it! It's amazing how much easier it becomes when there is a set schedule in place. Now this doesn't mean that you won't need to tweet, post, and blog outside of this timeframe. It does mean that you have consciously put time aside to maintain your business's presence. A schedule is your god send!
Partner in crime
Working together is a key ingredient to a successful social media presence for your business. This partner is there to help a business brainstorm an update, make sure updates are punctual and ensure that a business understands how the effort is paying off.
If you would like a partner for your business's social media presence, please don't hesitate to talk to us about the services we offer!
