Facebook is a platform a lot of us have come to know, love and express ourselves though. Status updates enable us to communicate our feelings to the Facebook network.
Just recently the Facebook Data Team have put together something they call "Facebook Memology", referring to this research project as being a study of how memes, or new ideas and trends are spreading on Facebook. The data the Facebook Data Team collected is based on words and phrases in U.S. status updates.
It's interesting to see that as much as major news events and celebrities made the top of the list, so did personal topics such as family, religion and even what the Facebook Data Team refer to as 'emerging digital slang'.
The results of this study identify that Facebook has become, if not more so than other social platforms, a way for people to share their personal feelings and daily lives online with friends in their Facebook network.
