Insights into mobile phone users
Emarketer Daily has released some interesting statistics, from a study concerning US mobile phone internet usage. According to the study the US mobile internet population is rapidly increasing. A report conducted by AIMIA revealed that Australian mobile internet usage had increased a whopping 80%.
Of the US survey respondents, classifies as being heavy mobile phone users, in the Emarketer Daily report; 18.5% of internet mobile phone users searched for local products and services, 15.9% obtained information about movies and other entertainment, 13.3% got information about restaurants and bars. Some of these results have almost double since 2007, with some marketers predicting 2010 as being the year of the mobile.
So to the other side of the world, our land, Australia. How does our mobile usage compare?
Of the Australians surveyed by AIMIA 56% indicated they used their mobile phone to get information, 27% indicated they used their mobile phone to access the internet; 20% daily, 12% at least once a week, 8% at least once a month.
With additions to the mobile phone 'smart phone' market internet usage through a mobile device is set to increase. We can't wait to see how it will impact and influence the next online tool, enable businesses to capture markets or adjust current consumer trends. 2010 here we come.
