Tagged as an Ikea product

We love being informed of creative ways brands' engage with their target markets and customer using Facebook. Mashable recently posted an article showcasing cool ways brands were using Facebook for Black Friday and Beyond. One brand the article noticeably missed was Ikea's recent Facebook campaign.

Ikea's campaign placed Facebook's image tagging system into a contest; the result a viral campaign. Facebook users were encouraged to tag themselves as Ikea items in photos on the Facebook page. The first person to tag themselves and publicise the action on their profile won the Ikea product. As a result the images spread to thousands of profile pages, news feeds and links. For the cost of a few items, this campaign raised awareness, engaged with customers and publicised the new store's launch.

Below is a video of the Facebook campaign:

Those guys at Ikea certainly know how to get it right. Shame I missed this one - could do with a sofa
