SMEs will turn to E-Mail and Social Media in 2010
With 2010 in sight eMarketer Daily have released interesting findings that indicate it as being the year for small businesses to invest in social media and email marketing.
"Three-quarters of small businesses will increase their spending on e-mail marketing in 2010, while nearly seven in ten will put more dollars toward social media, according to VerticalResponse data."
Findings from this report also indicate that fewer SMEs will invest in search engine marketing and banner advertising to focus more on social media and email marketing efforts.
“We’re encouraged that small businesses continue to allocate portions of their budget to marketing channels such as email and social media, despite the downturn in the economic climate,” said VerticalResponse CEO and founder Janine Popick, in a statement.
Although this study indicates a shift in the way SMEs will approach online marketing in 2010, aspects of search engine marketing such as Google, Bing and Yahoo are still important to an SME's online campaigns and presence.
